SANTO DOMINGO.- The Center for International Commerce of the United Nations (ITC) and the Export & Investment Center of the Dominican Republic (CEI-RD) held the first “Regional Meeting for Coordinators of Commercial Representation in Foreign Countries”.
The encounter had the objective of stimulating the regional exchange of good practices, and the development of capabilities in networking procedures for commercial representation in foreign countries (RCE). The event that concluded on November 12th, was addressed to countries in Central America and the Caribbean, in areas about commercial relations between the different countries that make up the ITC.
According to the Director of the CEI-RD, Eddy Martinez Manzueta, this event has been an excellent opportunity so that these countries reach agreements that seek to stimulate possible investments through his representatives in foreign commerce.
He understands that in order to attract investment there is a need for a staff with vast experience in foreign commerce and this is what was sought after with this event, for “our representatives to be people willing to offer commercial knowledge about each one of the countries in which today they participate”.
He stated he was proud of the fact that the ITC chose the Dominican Republic as the headquarters for this event, where countries such as Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Venezuela, Belize and Haiti were present.
